A WALL AS WITNESS

 The Vietnam Veterans Memorial

It has been called the wall that heals.  "A Wall As Witness" personifies The Wall like no other film has done before. Experience from within as though you have become the granite itself. You have seen drawings and enhanced photographs of the soldiers in The Wall, but this film takes a look from within, the reflective image that looks outward into the hearts of those that visit.

Experience The Wall from it's own perspective, to what is brought before it by those most affected.  The pain, the silence, the anger of loss, the promise of healing and the struggle to continue.

"A Wall As Witness" examines three insights to the experience of healing.

Wall Awareness

War Awareness

Self Awareness

Hear from The Memorials founder, Jan Scruggs, in his own words, tell of the challenges to erect such a memorial that would become the nation's most visited and controversial of memorials, and how this memorial has changed his life.

Experience first hand, from the artist who created it, Lucas Century, the sandblasting process that inscribed the 58,260 names on the hard black granite, and watch it come to life.

Look into the eyes of Gold Star Mother, Ann Sherman Wolcott, who lost her son, Rex, in the Vietnam War. Listen as she shares the pain of hearing the news, overcoming the terrible loss and moving forward to help others with their grief.

Ride alongside Artie Muller, the founder of "Rolling Thunder Inc." and hear the thunder of half a million motorcycles as they make their yearly journey from across the U.S. to Washington DC.  Feel the commitment from the veterans as they fullfil a promise to always remember our prisoners of war and missing in action, and to never stop looking for their lost comrades and supporting their families.

Make the 1200 mile journey with Vietnam veteran Don Wenninger and lay a plaque at the The Wall in memory of his deceased friend and hear him share his thoughts and feelings of experiencing the wall for the first time in his life.

Each individal has their moment of discovery.  To them, at that moment in time, The Wall is alive.
